Installing and Servicing Exit Devices is a comprehensive course that has been developed to assist tradesmen in proper understanding and installation of commercial exit devices. Learners will be able to identify the difference between exit devices that are rated for UL panic applications and Fire Exit Hardware Devices that are rated for fire rated doors. This course will identify the different components between a rim and service vertical rod type exit devices, and be able to understand their functionality and importance during the installation process. The course will also cover different servicing techniques for each of these types of devices and helpful hints to properly maintain them for years of service.

After completing this course, learner will be able to:

  • Understand technical fundamentals relating to a rim and service mounted vertical rod exit device.
  • Identify the different components of a rim and surface mounted vertical rod exit device.
  • Understand the differences between UL Panic Exit Devices and Fire Exit Hardware Devices.
  • Know the proper installation techniques for a rim and surface mounted vertical rod exit device.
  • Understand important servicing techniques for these types of exit devices that will yield cost savings along with trouble free operation for the entire door assembly.
