In this fourth and final two hour course in the Aluminum Stile Door Service and Repair Series, you will gain a complete knowledge of exit devices and closers. Filled with the invaluable insight of the author’s years of experience, you will learn about the three types of exit devices, gain an understanding of the history of closers, and identify and install closers in the three closer categories. In addition, you will be guided step-by-step through the process of removing a malfunctioning floor check and installing a new floor check – a difficult process made simple by the hints you will learn in this course. Finally, as a bonus, you will learn how to install an Aluminum Stile Door in a Box. Armed with the knowledge you will gain in this comprehensive course you will advance from novice to expert and see a corresponding increase in your earnings potential.

At the conclusion of this course you will be able to do the following:

  • Install exit devices
    • Concealed vertical rods
    • Surface vertical rods
    • Rim mounted hardware
  • Understand the history of closers
  • Indentify closers in the three categories –
    • Surface mounted closers
    • Overhead concealed closers including Global, LCN, and Kawneer,
    • Floor closers or floor checks
  • Install closers
  • Remove a malfunctioning Rixson and install a Rixson floor check.
  • Install an Aluminum Stile Door in a Box+
